Cheap, cheap, cheap

As you may know, in addition to selling (the world’s most awesome) cloth diapers, I also offer repair services for any brand of diapers. I’ve replaced elastic and hook and loop tape on countless diapers, and have even done more extensive repairs, as well. I’ve worked on nearly every major brand of diapers, and many WAHM brands, as well.

I recently had the opportunity to work on one very well known, recently popular brand that I’ve honestly never worked on before, beyond the casual snap repair or replacement. I’m not going to name the brand, but I’m going to tell you that I was SHOCKED at the cheap construction and materials.

This diaper featured shortcuts that surprised me. The construction details were shortcut-y. It used cheap materials in places where I can only assume the manufacturer didn’t think it mattered (for example, instead of loop tape for the laundry tab, it had some sort of fleece-like material that did absolutely nothing to hold the hook down). The sewing was actually fairly uneven and not at all balanced. Several of the snaps were not functioning correctly, simply because they hadn’t been pressed on firmly enough. The elastic was starting to fail. The diaper needed all of the elastic and all of the hook and loop replaced – and it was not even a year old!

I just honestly could not believe that a diaper with this many cheap shortcuts could be so popular… or so expensive!

Please rest assured that, here at Wallypop, we do our utmost to assure you receive a quality diaper with NO cheap shortcuts. We keep our costs low, so we can keep your costs low. But we don’t take cheap shortcuts. We don’t substitute cheap materials to save a few cents per diaper. Our laundry tabs are functional (and strong!). Our snaps are securely held in place. Our fastener tabs are large and finished, not tiny and left unfinished so they gradually unravel.

Our diapers are quality. You can count on it.
