CPSIA Hurts Local Business

From KCCI.

Country Cycle in Winterset sells ATVs, dirt bikes and motorcycles for adults and children.

General Manager Donnie Clark said, “We have been spoken to by the manufacturer and we are not allowed to sell any of the new models for people 12 and under.”

Clark said he’s waiting on manufacturers like Kawasaki to send him a certificate its products pass the Consumer Product Safety Commissions standards.

Until then, the bike shop can’t sell its products intended for use by kids 12 and under. He said the bike shop has turned away at least five customers in the past two weeks.
