First Ride on Mama’s Back

on mama's back

We went for a walk earlier this week – it was up around 50, and you just can’t pass that up!

This was Genna’s first ride on mama’s back, and also I think swayed me towards “Genna thinks I’m boring in the sling” as the reason that Genna’s not a huge fan of being worn when awake. She was loving it while we were outside, not so much while standing still in the asile at Campbell’s looking at clearance crackers.

So, we all walked up to Campbells for lunch. Then, for some reason, Miss G decided to SCREAM, ear-piercing screams, the entire time I was putting her back on my back. The entire time. She didn’t want me to bend over to use gravity to help me as I tied on the waist straps. So she screamed. I swear I lost some hearing that day.

Then she fell asleep not more than three steps outside of the store.

  1. Actually, she screams because it’s developmentally appropriate for her at this age to test out her vocal cords, to try different pitches, and to enjoy listening to the volume she can produce. It’s not screams of pain or hurt or dislike… it’s just noise. Equivalent to the noise my 4 YO makes while playing.

Is your first name really Wally?

  2. I love the baby back pack. Wish I had one when I was raising young’uns. One thing concerns me, however. In the first pic of you and baby, the bottom red strap is going across baby’s leg. I’m concerned that it might be cutting off circulation or just plain uncomfortable for baby. It looks pretty snug. Have your tried putting legs on top of those bottom straps as oppose to straps on top of baby’s legs?

    I’m just a worry-wart .
