Some members of Congress ask Obama to remove Nancy Nord from CPSC

OK, I’m clearly out of my league here. I could NEVER be involved in politics. I just am flabbergasted by the circular fingerpointing going on here. I mean, I think Congress enacted a difficult and overly broad law and then refused to fully staff the CPSC while deflecting all the blame onto the CPSC and away from themselves.

Some members of Congress obviously have a different viewpoint. And, I don’t know, they could obviously be more right about this than I am, since they’re involved and I’m just an observer with very little experience in federal politics, laws, or lawmaking.

I am DEFINITELY learning a LOT about our government, though.

But here’s something interesting. The CPSC is supposed to be 3 people. It’s currently 2 because Congress  refused to seat the third member, a Bush appointee. Nancy Nord is also a Bush appointee. It is entirely possible that the four Democrats writing the letter asking Obama to fire Nancy Nord really just want the Commission to be all Democrat appointees. I’m not making accusations, just noticing something interesting. It’s also entirely possible they think she’s done a crappy job.
