Inspired by the lovely folks at Craftzine, I decided to post about my sewing machine. Here it is:
Janome Memory Craft 6500
I really like it. It runs very smoothly, and has not caused me a problem yet. I’ve owned it for, oh, a year and a half or so. I’ve sewn nearly every day since I bought it, and most days I sew a LOT! It’s got a fair number of decorative stitches which I do not use. The buttonhole function is really easy to use, except it’s got a function that’s supposed to sense the size of the button and sew an appropriate buttonhole…which is great, but it’s never worked.
It does small letters, which is nice for personalizing things. It clips threads for you, which is great. The three buttons I use the most are handily placed near the needle – the needle down button, the clip threads button, and the reverse stitch button. The bobbin winder works off its own engine, which means that I can keep sewing while filling extra bobbins.
Generally, I love it!
