Oh Baby Review

As mentioned earlier, Wallypop had a table at the Oh Baby event at Methodist Hospital. We shared a booth with The Stork Wearhouse, since we are, after all, in the same industry, not to mention good friends! It’s a long day, with a lot of standing and saying the same things over and over. But this year’s event was quite fun!

For starters, I had the good fortune of being located in the same general vicinity as the ICAN table, Kellie Fox’s table, Urban Belly, and Simply for Giggles, all staffed by friends. Additionally, our neighbors the March of Dimes and Music Together were super friendly and made nice neighbors. (We were also located across from Similac and their Breastfeeding Support Packages. Ha.)

Beyond our great neighbors, there were all of the great parents! Not everyone is interested in cloth diapers or slinging their babies, but this year’s Oh Baby seemed to have plenty of parents who were at least willing to look into it a bit, and many of those seemed to be seriously considering cloth! We even had a fair number of parents who indicated that they had already decided – or were close to deciding – to use cloth diapers full-time.

The carriers were popular, too, especially the Asian and Wrap styles, which were, I think, largely items of curiosity, since most of the attendees had never seen either type before. I walked around for a while with Jim Joe Bill Bob (Wally’s Cabbage Patch doll) in a fleece pouch, and actually had a few attendees look at me as if to say “Wow, does that woman realize that she’s carrying a doll around??”

It was a great day, all told! I so enjoy chatting with pregnant women and their husbands or partners. It’s such an exciting time!
